FEAR TOMORROW
05:16
|
|
||
Negligence is bliss he said
As he cut his throat and bowed his head
The moon was shining brightly
Through the window
All those friends are gone again
Who would blame the dead and win
Nothing ever changes
It just starts over
But who would have guessed
When the wicked are laid to rest
Someone wakes up and says
They miss yesterday
And fear tomorrow
You swing your fist and hear the wind
The ground never plays pretend
How did this all start
No one dares remember
Take another pull she said
My brains are laid out across the bed
Flesh is cheap
But it’s better than legal tender
But who would have guessed
When the wicked are laid to rest
Someone wakes up and says
They miss yesterday
And fear tomorrow
They lost the words that he confessed
So they made them up and said it’s for the best
But some can never swallow
All that sugar
So kill the young and long live the pest
Bury the truth and drown the rest
Now the mornings come
With bitter laughter
But who would have guessed
When the wicked are laid to rest
Someone wakes up and says
They miss yesterday
And fear tomorrow

LILLY WHITE
05:20
|
|
||
Her letter said I miss you
Sharing his heart’s point of view
But fear stands upon pride
Just like a cross upon a tomb
And the floors, they know your secrets
Yes, the walls are whispering
The ceiling winks down at the floor
They are always laughing
Grow a white lily
So I can lie down
Her letter said I’m tired
These kind of days do that to you
The night exposed his open eyes
Growing heavy with the dew
Those children we remember
They’ve all but disappeared
The hours watched in silence
As time tricked them with the years
Grow a white lily
So I can lie down
Now she writes no letters
He won’t get them anymore
A lonesome mother cries in silence
As waves break upon the shore
Listen to the birds sing
That unrelenting song
The days have grown so short
Remember when they seemed so long
Grow a white lily
So I can lie down

I WENT TO THE DOCTOR
06:47
|
|
||
I went to the doctor
And he called the neurologist
When he showed up
He phoned an archeologist
Who dug through my brain
Turned and apologized
And said I’m sorry
We’re too late
An operation was scheduled
For immediate correction
Cut out the bad
And enable affection
But once they opened me
They found an infection
And said it seems
We’re too late
So they stitched me back up
And scheduled appointments
Gave various medications
And various ointments
Set me up with a shrink
And a priest for anointment
But I knew salvation was too late
I attended their sessions
Feigned learning their lessons
For nearly an entire week
I went through the motions
Fighting inner commotions
While my mind’s tongue was placed
Firmly in cheek
I said this isn’t normality
This isn’t reality
I’m glad I didn’t swallow the pills
Your gods are all laughing
In sympathetic malice
Dancing about in their manmade palaces
You pity me
As I envy your fallacies
But I seek validation
Even still
But soon I couldn’t hide it
And I finally subsided
Submitting to my state of mind
and will
I laughed uncontrollably
While writhing in silence
And thought that this pain
Can only get better
Yes it will
I said this isn’t normality
This isn’t reality
I’m glad I didn’t swallow the pills
Your gods are all laughing
In sympathetic malice
Dancing about in their manmade palaces
You pity me
As I envy your fallacies
But I seek validation
Even still

THAT'S ALL
06:54
|
|
||
You’ll learn to stand once your feet stop squirming
They’ll let you off before you’re ready to go
You’ll find a hole when the days stop burning
The glass will crack once you’re ice cold
That’s all
That’s all
That’s how it goes
They’ll raise the bar once you’re under the table
They’ll call the cops long after you have been rolled
They spill their guts once you’ve lost your hearing
They say hurry up when you’ve got twenty five to go
That’s all
That’s all
That’s how it goes
When you can’t find the time
And you’ve long misplaced your reasons
You find yourself
Just trying to look back
Now your money’s all gone
Your days are numbered
So you pick up pennies
And just lay them on the tracks
That’s all
That’s all
That’s how it goes
Come one come all they cry over the loudspeakers
As you try to find you’re place standing in line
That winding all around this theatre
They lift and drop the curtain so many times
That’s all
That’s all
That’s how it goes
They call your number, but you’ve never pulled a ticket
You glance for the clock long fallen off the wall
Try to laugh, find some comfort in a stranger
But every one’s just a painted man wearing overalls
That’s all
That’s all
That’s how it goes
And so you’ve come to find
That there just aint no pleasing
Those things you love
That will never love you back
So you break the laws
They’re all busying believing
Just say, “you don’t mind me”
“We’re all on the same track”
That’s all
That’s all
That’s how it goes
You know there’ll come a day when everyone grows tired
And sick of sitting back just slapping their knee
But you know that’s a long ways down the wire
That’s a place that I’ll never get to see
That’s all
That’s all
That’s how it goes
