EVERYTHING DOWN by MAXWELL LEE When I step outside It seems like Everybody’s smiling But I can see something in their eyes Yes There is something Burning I’m stepping down The street I’m looking all around I am unsurprised At what I see I’m unsurprised At what I’ve found There’s a fire burning It’s burning Everything down There’s a fire In the atmosphere There’s a fire Underground And so I tip my hat To every stranger That I see And as they’re waving back We’re fanning the flames So casually ‘Cuz there’s a fire Burning baby It’s burning as we play There’s a fire Burning honey The rein of fire is Here It’s here to stay And when the sky’s nice And blue And when it’s nice And grey I can smell the smoke I can hear The flames They’re drowning out The birdsong As the rats Head for the hills And I know it won’t Be too long Until we’re at The fire’s will There’s a fire burning It’s burning Everything down There’s a fire In the atmosphere There’s a fire Underground There’s a fire Burning baby It’s burning as we play There’s a fire Burning honey This rein of fire is Here It’s here to stay

GONE BLIND 03:41
GONE BLIND by MAXWELL LEE This world is an eye for an eye No wonder everybody’s gone blind I know It comes at no surprise Nothing is one of a kind Ten million words used to describe This hole Waiting beneath the sky Behold Now you’ve got time to pray God is listening I hope you’ve got something good to say No use lying now The truth always comes out A few years and a couple of days The lord moves in mysterious ways We waltz In circles around the drain Three meals, but their all the same Striped suits in a checkered frame There are no windows here But you can hear the rain For gold Well now you’ve got time to play The game is rigged, I know But we roll the dice anyways No use keeping count When it’s all run out Oh Well now you’ve got time to say I’m sorry that the light Just had to be borne by flames But it’s not your fault We know who makes the call No, it’s not your fault We know who makes the call

THE PARK 04:39
THE PARK by MAXWELL LEE Staring at needles Stuck on the dirt In this park Where I like to lay I don’t have to worry About nobody Coming to bother me Because this aint the type of park Where people come to play I sit here And wait for the sun But I never forget the rain Looking at these trees Full of birds In this park Where I like to lay I’m listening to them chirp And I’m hearing What they say It’s kind of funny That we’re talking about the same things It seems we’ve forgotten That we’re all just birds Some of us just don’t have wings Looking at people Walking right by This park Where I like to lay I smell the smoke from the bars And I’m watching This trash decay I’ve been here since this morning And I might stay throughout the night But I never worry Because tomorrow Always brings new light

I FORGET 04:00
I FORGET by MAXWELL LEE You may have heard That I’ve seen it all But half of which I can’t recall And what I can Just makes me laugh I’m sure I forgot The better half For the part That still remains I’ve lost the words That could explain I remembered faces And forgot the names Of those friends and places Gone up in flames Yet what I have I’m glad I’ve got I’ve gained a little And lost a lot And when it’s gone I’ve watched it go And all that’s left Is what I know I’ve seen the sun After it rains I’ve climbed a tree And carved my name I’ve picked a fight Broken them up I’ve tossed a coin Into a cup I’ve had a coin Tossed down to me I’ve been up for days And sailed the sea I’ve been on board And run aground I’ve buried treasure And gold I’ve found I’ve been alive And flown a kite Shaken hands with death Yes I’ve seen the light I’ve watched them die Shooting railroad spikes Chasing broken bottles Down that runaway life I found love And lost the flame I’ve waited for Her to come again I’ve watched them crawl Through this life of debt I’ve seen them caged And kept as pets I’ve breathed the air And coughed up smoke I’ve been cut deep And ribs I’ve broke I’ve lent a hand And won a bet But what I’ve won I always forget

THE DEVIL'S TONGUE by MAXWELL LEE Keys hanging On a kite Keys hanging On a kite string Waiting For light Waiting For lightning I’m going To hold on tight I’m going To hold on tightly And laugh When it strikes I’ll laugh When it strikes me And everything Carved in stone Everything Carved in stone No It won’t be here For long No It won’t be here For long This little light Of mine This little light Of mine sings Red In the night Her words Are frightening I met an angel In disguise I asked Why are you hiding She said I’m terrified But this horror Excites me And everybody Knows the song Everybody Knows this song They sing it With the Devil’s tongue They’re singing With the Devil’s tongue
